MAKEUP 101! BUILDING YOUR BASIC MAKEUP KIT!

Hey Everyone Welcome Back To My Blog! Now when I started doing my own makeup, I remember there was no youtube or blogs that helped me get started! So I was totally clueless as to what I should or should not do. I bought tons of lipsticks, and eyeshadows, and I thought I was good to go. Trust me when I first started off, I had no idea about what a foundation is and even when I knew that it is the base of all the makeup, I thought it was something that you shouldn’t put on every time you do your makeup, I thought it was supposed to be for a special occasion!
So I had to struggle a lot when I first started doing my makeup! That’s why I’m writing this post to help out all the beginners out there as to what they need for a basic starter makeup kit!
This can also be used as an everyday makeup look kit which you can put together and use everyday for when you don’t want to go full glam! So let’s get started!

BE SMART!

So the first thing anyone who is new to makeup would and should do is to be smart, and by smart I mean spending wise. Now when you are experimenting and learning about makeup, I feel like you should not splurge on high end brands, instead you should stick to good drugstore brands, and there are tons of drugstore brands that are affordable, yet quality wise are just as good as many high end brands. So this post, or makeup starter/ everyday makeup essentials kit will mainly feature drugstore makeup. However if you want you can definitely splurge on the high end brands, but I feel like when you are new, it’s better to experiment with something that is economical so you don’t regret wasting it.

PRIMER!

So the first and foremost thing you need is a primer. If you want your makeup to stay all day long, you need a good primer. So if you are a beginner, I’d recommend the Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm. It is an amazing makeup primer and I saw Nikkie Tutorials rave about it on youtube, so I went ahead and tried it out, and I was amazed at the results. It does keep your makeup in place throughout the day and it retails for just $4.75! So if you want a good primer, this one is probably it for a beginner!

FOUNDATION!

Now there are tons of brands out there, and each one has probably 10 to 15 different kinds of foundations, so to choose one is probably the hardest possible thing! However following a few simple steps can help you choose the perfect foundation for yourself, and I’ve covered all of those steps in another post.
So if you are new to makeup, you have a variety of options to choose from! You can either use a BB cream, or a weightless foundation, or if you think you have the basic know how for makeup, you can even opt for a full coverage one.
I will link some of my favourite ones in a list below so feel free to choose any one of these ðŸ™‚

 CONCEALER!

A concealer is one of the trickiest things you can deal with when you are new to the makeup world. So choosing the right one is necessary, and knowing how to choose the right one is all the more important. So worry not if you are a newbie, you can read all the essential things you need to know about a concealer here, and when I say that it is the trickiest makeup product to use, I really mean it, because there are so many ways that you can go wrong with it, some of the most common ones and how to avoid them, I’ve enlisted here.
So two of my favourite drugstore concealers are Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer and Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer. Both of these are amazing full coverage concealers, and are super affordable.

POWDER!

So once you have your foundation on and your concealer on, you have to set it all up with a powder! So this is another essential that you should have in your makeup bag even if you are a beginner. So what I recommend is a pressed powder as using loose powders can be a little tricky at times. One of my favorite pressed powders is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

Now there are some common mistakes people make when using powders, and for your convenience, I’ve discussed them all in a post which I’ll be linking here.

EYE ESSENTIALS!

Okay let’s dive into the broader categories now! Eye makeup is totally dependant upon personal preferences. You can go and get the products that you need for your eye look, depending upon your personal style. For instance, some people love dramatic eyes, some are more into a pop of color, while I personally prefer a soft nude look with a winged liner. So if you are already into makeup, go ahead and pick out the stuff you personally think would complement you and you’d wear it on daily basis.
However if you are a beginner, I recommend keeping your everyday look as simple as possible and keeping on hand the stuff you can easily afford. So what you most commonly need is a mascara, an eyeliner, a brow gel, and finally a few eyeshadows.
I keep my everyday look as simple as possible and the products I use are all mentioned below:
Manhattan Dip Eyeliner waterproof
Manhattan No End Mascara Waterproof
Ulta Beauty Quad(picture attached below), it has the shades Bone, Truffle, Plum smoke and Calla Lily sorry I can’t remember the name ðŸ˜¦
Catrice Cosmetics Absolute Rose eyeshadow Palette.
I do not use any product on my brows for my everyday look because I have really great Brows ðŸ˜€
One last thing I'd mention here, if you are into buying a few palettes, do check out my previous posts for affordable palettes, or opt for morphe palettes. They are amazing!

LIPS!

For lips I recommend keeping a few different shades of lipsticks and lip glosses that you think look good on you. Some of my favorite drugstore lipsticks are by Colourpop Cosmetics. Their lippie sticks and liquid lipsticks are literally everything you can ask for!

CHEEKS!

For cheeks all you need is a blush, a bronzer and a highlighter! So my top picks are Physicians Formula Butter BronzerWet N Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Palette, and NYX Powder Blushes.

TOOLS!!!

Now this is the last and the most important component of any makeup bag! So you need a set of good face brushes and a set of eye brushes, and a makeup sponge! I recommend the Real Techniques Core Collection for face, and Starter Set For Eyes. Both the sets retail at $18 each, and their brushes are amazing too! The last thing is the makeup sponge, and the best one out there is definitely the Beauty Blender!
So these are all the essentials you need for your basic Makeup Starter Kit. Let me know if it was helpful for you guys ðŸ™‚
Until Next Time! ðŸ™‚

Life Update! I Got Nikkahfied! Detailed Post!!!

Hey Everyone Welcome Back To My Blog!! I know my regular readers are asking me every now and then where have I been in the past couple of weeks, and also why am I so MIA on the blog. Well the reason is stated in the title! I got Nikkahfied on 16th April, 2017, and this is the main reason for me being not active on the blog! So the preps actually started in late January, I wanted a dress that spoke to me, so I wanted to be sure that I am choosing something that I have always imagined myself wearing on my big day. Although I will be having a proper wedding in future, so I wanted to keep it as minimalist as possible, and also chic at the same time. I did not want a total bridal vibe, but simultaneously, I wanted something that made me stand out of the crowd. So I bought an embellished fabric from Rabi Centre, that's located in Bahria Town Phase 7, and I wanted it to be stitched as a floor length Maxi dress. The tailor however did not follow my instructions, and made a floor le
